She comes from a village, Muthuukulam, in Alleppey District. She was the school topper in her 10th standard, scoring 92 per cent. She got her first offer for the film ‘Ishtam’ when she was in 10th.

Due to her second film offer, she didn’t fare well in the +2 exams. She then graduated with a BA in English. She has won the honour of Kalathilakam in the youth festival of Alleppey district.

Daughter of Mr. Raju, working with the Telecom and mother Veena, a teacher with the M.S.M High Secondary school, Navya was a 12th student at M.S.M High secondary school when she entered the film industry. Investigative director K.Madhu is her uncle.
